A Latin star, nine-piece band, clowns, aerial artists and super loud fans: Ricardo Arjona’s Circo Soledad World Tour.

Big Shoes to Fill.
Ricardo Arjona is one of those legends I grew up knowing about, so it was truly an honor that an artist of this caliber wanted me to be a part of this tour, especially since my predecessor at FOH was none other than the late Carlos “Coco” Martinez, a legend on his own right and mentor to some of the top engineers in Latin music today. Arjona is not only one of the best selling artists in Latin music history but also well-known for his over-the-top live shows, so once I was on board I knew I had to go above and beyond to deliver over-the-top results.
Tech Specs
FOH Console
This was the first time I teamed up with my good friends from Solid State Logic to take out the mighty L300 out for a spin, and I fell in love with it. For some of the places we visited it was the first time that an SSL was seen or used in a show. Its amazing sound and processing capabilities and flexibility made it my favorite console to mix on to date.
1x Solid State Logic L300+
1x Blacklight MADI concentrator
2x ML32.32 Super Analogue I/O
Processing
Waves was at the heart of all the processing I used during this tour. I’ve always approached my outboard gear as the “Spice Rack” which can enhance the flavor and feel of the mix and give it tons of character, so it was an amazing complement to a great desk. I used the L300’s FX Loop to talk to MultiRack SoundGrid via an MGO. An additional MGB was deployed to take care of multitrack recording for the whole tour.
2x Waves Extreme Server
1x Mercury + Abbey Road Bundle
1x Digigrid MGO
1x Digigrid MGB
Microphones
Shure provided all the microphones for the tour. Their support team was amazing with us and I had to the chance to try out just about every microphone from their extensive catalog to find the right tool for the job and I was pleasantly surprised by the performance and sound of some of their newer models.
